Susan Laubach

MD, FAAAAI, FAAP

Dr. Susan Laubach is board-certified in Allergy and Clinical Immunology and Pediatrics. While her primary clinical interest is food allergy, she is experienced in treating all allergic and immunological disorders. She will lead Latitude’s North County San Diego clinic, opening in June, which will provide specialized, life-changing care for food allergy patients of all ages. 

Dr. Laubach is a recognized leading force in the allergy community in San Diego, where she has practiced since 2011, and has been a faculty member at UCSD and at Rady’s Children’s Hospital. She was previously the Co-Director of the Rady Food Allergy Center, where she helped establish their food allergy immunotherapy clinic. Most recently, she has cared for food allergy patients in private practice at Empower Allergy Treatment in Poway.

She received her undergraduate degree in Human Biology from Stanford University and her medical degree from the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) School of Medicine. She completed her residency in Pediatrics at the Icahn School of Medicine at the Mount Sinai Kravis Children’s Hospital in New York City, and her training as a Fellow in Allergy & Immunology at Duke University. 

Upon completing her training, Dr. Laubach spent three years at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC, serving as a civilian contractor in the Department of Allergy/Immunology. She helped care for active duty soldiers and their families, while training Army and Navy physicians in the Allergy/Immunolgy Fellowship Program in collaboration with the training programs at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD, and Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, MD. 

She has been an investigator on over 100 studies in the field of Allergy & Immunology. Most recently, as an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at UCSD, she conducted dozens of studies on food allergy diagnosis, treatment, and prevention including oral immunotherapy for peanut, milk, egg, and multiple-food allergy, epicutaneous immunotherapy (eg the peanut “patch”), biologic treatment for food allergy, nanoparticle treatment for peanut allergy, elemental formula safety in patients with food allergy, and other studies.

Dr. Laubach is a fellow of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, & Immunology (AAAAI) and of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). She currently serves on the Executive Committee for the AAP Section on Allergy & Immunology and has served as co-chair of the AAAAI section on School-based Asthma, Allergy & Anaphylaxis Management Program (SA3MPRO), and as a member of the Adverse Reactions to Food Committee for the AAAAI.
